David R. Holmes：美国梅奥医学研究生院医学教授，是心血管介入治疗领域的权威。2006年David教授获得ACC临床领域杰出科学家奖，2009年当选为ACC继任主席。
大会亮点

Dr Holmes: The intent of this meeting was to bring to bear the latest educational strategies that have continued to evolve over the past couple of years. Our two co-Chairs have designed our meeting around that. The highlights of the meeting include maintenance of certification which is a huge deal in the United States (as it will become throughout the rest of world as society demands that we keep up-to-date). These sessions around maintenance of certification and eventually maintenance of licensure will be absolutely packed as we identify learner needs. This is very interesting and important. The second important dimension at ACC is introducing the concept of Just-in-Time learning. People have talked about this in the past， but what the Just-in-Time learning concept does is to say that there is a vast amount of information in guidelines as well as published press and other non-guideline publications that deal with patient care issues. If we are in the middle of a daily busy clinic schedule and we are asked to see a patient with a condition we are not exactly as up-to-date as we might be， it would be very nice to have a readily available source of information with which we can look at the latest guidelines. Then， when we go in to talk to the patient， we have a sense of what are the best strategies for evaluation and treatment of the patient. That too is a terribly important element of this meeting. Thirdly， we are going to have the potential chance to interact with the Legends of Cardiovascular Medicine. There are Legends of Cardiovascular Medicine that every single cardiologist in the world has heard about such as Eugene Braunwald and Valentin Fuster. Those people have made such a huge difference to the practice of modern cardiovascular care， so we are focusing on those legends. They are going to talk about the lessons they have learned and the lessons that they would give to us as we begin our journey perhaps towards becoming legends ourselves. That looks like it will be incredibly exciting. We have live cases from around the world and we will interact with physicians from around the world. The global network is becoming increasingly important as we think about long-distance learning. We have a very robust group of Fellows-in-Training who will interact with colleagues from around the world to really disseminate information very quickly. Then we have the late breaking clinical trials. There are eighteen late breaking clinical trials. They vary widely from things like: the comparative effectiveness of coronary surgery versus PCI， to stem cells for congestive heart failure and for myocardial repair， to CT imaging， to approaches for acute infarction in terms of thrombus removal， to new pharmaceutical agents for optimizing the results of the treatment of patients with acute coronary syndrome. There will be a wide range and wide breadth of information related to all of these different topics. It is a large meeting and networking is a hugely important part of that. Ten years ago， no one knew what networking was. The chance to talk about cases， the chance to compare professional experiences， to think about problems and talk about employment opportunities; all these opportunities will exist at this meeting.
